Scary Movie 2026 is a parody horror film from director Michael Tiddes starring Marlon Wayans, shaun Wayams, Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Olivia Rose Keegan and Cameron Scott Roberts in central roles.

Twenty-six years after outrunning a suspiciously familiar masked killer, the Core Four are back in the killer’s crosshairs and no horror movie IP is safe.

Scary Movie 2026 part of the Scary Movie parody franchise and once again brings more of the same stupid, stoner humour to the horror genre.

This would have been a four or a five star if it was released 25 years earlier but this humour really doesn’t hold up too well in 2026, I’m a completely different person to who I was 25 years ago and my tolerance for stupidity is definitely much lower.

The film takes the same take pop culture to the point of ridiculousness approach as with previous efforts but this time, Scream 7, which is the basis for this film, had already taken the franchise into ridiculousness leaving what we have here as a more credible telling of the story. Not what you want from a parody movie.

I have to admit that there were several scenes where I laughed hence the two stars but this film seems to take the Naked Gun (2025) approach of firing as many jokes at the wall in the shortest time possible to see what sticks with more of them missing than hitting as the film goes on.

The film seems to equate loud and chaotic with funny much to its detriment and feels like its stuck in the past rather than eliciting nostalgia.

I get that the film goes out of its way to try and be offensive and to try to trigger people but I found non of the humour actually offensive or triggering, just tired and just trying too hard to be relevant.

This is the sixth in the series and I honestly didn’t know that there were anything passed the first two so that kinda says a lot about this franchise which makes this effort profoundly disappointing.

Overall: 2/5 – Not My Favourite Scary Movie
